Activities & Programs
With our 17-year veteran activity director, Tammy Block, and plenty or resident input, activities that provide a sense of purpose, fulfillment, companionship and entertainment are scheduled each month.
Riverside Health Care Center is home to many plants, gardens and range of pets (birds, cats, dogs and fish), which provide companionship and an opportunity for our residents to provide nurturing care to others.
We also offer Pinochle groups, a weekly high tea, exercise classes, children coming to dance, our own Red Hat Society, and trips to the Osprey ball games. These are just some of the ways our residents can be with friends and stay active.
If you are interested in volunteering your time, you can enrich your life and the lives of others through many volunteer opportunities as well.
A Variety of Extra Activities to Take Part In:
The Red Hat Society – A group of women who enjoy getting together in their no rules ‘disorganization’ gatherings. They are up for a good time whether it be an outing, pie and coffee, or competitions such as ‘the ugliest lipstick’ contest.
The Paid Shirt Club – A group of men (not to be outdone by the women) who gather for their own good time. Meetings include breakfasts, poker games and an occasional movie.
Computer Training – We offer assistance in using our computer to search the internet, send and receive emails or play games.
Annual Pig Roast – At the end of each summer, we put on a pig roast for residents, families, staff and associates of Riverside. We offer a wonderful meal, games and entertainment.
Holiday Formal Dinner – In early December, Riverside offers their residents a wonderfully prepared meal with the ambience of a soft-lit dining experience for themselves and their families, to celebrate the holiday season.
Planting Day and Barbecue – Each spring, we plan a day when families and residents enjoy planting flowers and herbs together after enjoying a BBQ outside.
